Hey All,

Long time no blog. Just getting back from our big Charter to Trinidad. It was a very cool experience, but I am glad to be back into the normal swing of things, even though its only for a week. I will have a ton of pictures and stories of the trip and my last week up soon, but with only a couple days on the trip I am going to try and experience the islands as much as I can before I am back in the States. Here are a couple of pictures from the trip for now.

I have also posted some new videos on my myspace page. Check em out and let me know what you think.

fun stuff

April 2, 2009

Hey All,

Thursday. It a beautiful day in Dominica. Im at our favorite coffee joint, doing a little bit of interwebbing. I am trying to get my affairs in order for my return to the States. Hard to believe I have been rocking the Caribbean for 5 months already. One more months to show this ship whats up!

So I recorded some of my set last night. I was kind of having an off night, but I did get a cool take of “I Shot the Sheriff” by Bob Marley. I will be recording just about all of my sets from here on out because I need demo material to book some gigs this summer.

Make sure you check out the Myspace page.

I also got a link to this video from my friend, Kathleen. Its absolutely hilarious and I am not even a cat person.

Weekend Fun

February 28, 2009

Hey All,

Happy Weekend! I hope everyone has big plans. Im in beautiful Saint Kitts, sipping a carmel macchiato at an internet cafe. Not a lot going on today, but I have  another funny video to show you. I watched this one at least 8 times yesterday. I think I see a little of myself in David (after a Benadryl or two)…Parents can be so cruel. Enjoy.

Ignition Series

February 27, 2009

Hey All,

I was looking through a bunch of old videos on my computer and I stumbled across this. My buddy, Steve, and I were in the same entrepreneurial marketing class our senior year at UD. For our final project we had to create a marketing strategy for a new product. We invented the Victorinox Ignition Series for the handy, luxury car buyer. The Marketing campaign was pretty slick and we finished the presentation with this little commercial concept. I think we filmed and edited it in under 2 hours. I am sure most of you have seen it, but I thought it was worth a laugh or two.

Enjoy.

Word of the Day:

syllogism |ˈsiləˌjizəm|
noun
an instance of a form of reasoning in which a conclusion is drawn (whether validly or not) from two given or assumed propositions (premises), each of which shares a term with the conclusion, and shares a common or middle term not present in the conclusion (e.g., all dogs are animals; all animals have four legs; therefore all dogs have four legs).
• deductive reasoning as distinct from induction : logic is rules or syllogism.

PAX

February 6, 2009

Hey All,

This has been an interesting group of passengers, (pax), this week. While they are very energetic, they have been requesting some very unusual songs. Last night, however, I got a request for a song that brought back a lot of memories. A gentleman from Iowa kept requesting “put the lime in the coconut” by Harry Nilsson. He knew that I didnt know how to play it but would insist that I do it after every song. Now, this song is directly linked in my brain to my Father, Mr. Stephen M. Rivet. I can remember him dancing in the kitchen while mixing a drink, singing this song. If it wasnt for this fond set of memories, I probably wouldnt have amused the annoyingly persistent guest’s song request, but alas I will be playing tonight for him. Thanks Steve.

While doing some research of the song on the Internet, I found a plethora of videos on Youtube. Here is one that made me laugh. Enjoy.

Life On Lido Deck

February 2, 2009

Hey all,

Hope everyone had a great weekend. The wonderful couple that posted the videos last week posted another one that I thought you might enjoy. Once a week I play a set up on Lido Deck, which is the open deck on the top of the ship. This is video of me doing a remix of “In the Air tonight” by Phil Collins and “Two Step” by Dave Matthews. The audio is decent and she pans around a little so you can see what all the guests experience when cruising. Enjoy!

NEW VIDEOS

January 27, 2009

Hey All,

I have some videos for you. Last week an awesome couple ( Annie and Jeff ) from Minnesota came to cruise on the ‘ole Carnival Victory. They listened all week and requested some awesome songs. Jeff even came up to sing harmonies with me on “Im Yours” by Jason Mraz, which was very cool.

Annie took some pictures and videos of me performing and just posted some up on Youtube. These were from the last night of the cruise in the Ionian Lounge. Its kind of dark, but you can hear things pretty well.

She recorded “Older Chests” and “Home”, which is one of my original songs. Sorry for the blenders during “Older Chests”, those cruisers love their frozen drinks. Anyway, Check them out and let me know what you think. Hopefully there will be more videos to come.

Much love,

en francais, si vous plait.

January 26, 2009

Hey All,

Thank you very much for everyone’s lists. I enjoyed them thoroughly. Not only did I get more comments than any other post, but we broke a BJSR.wordpress.com record with 187 views in a single day! Good work. Lets keep it up.

Today, I wanted to tell you about a website that I found out about over the summer. La Blogotheque, (www.blogotheque.net) is a french website dedicated to indie music from around the world. While its hard to understand most of the content (because its all in french) it’s still very awesome. I am actually pleased with how much I was able to comprehend when I really put my mind to it…thanks, High School French.

Anyway, one of my favorite sections of the site is a feature called,  “Concerts A Emporter”, which means “take-away concerts”. The concerts are of various indie artists performing one or two of their more popular songs. The videos are all very unique and are all shot in interesting locations. Most are acoustic and quite raw, which I have always been a fan of. There are a ton of videos and a lot of the bands are new to me, but there are some familiar faces as well.

Here is a link to one of my favorite videos. Jason Mraz walking around Paris, singing some songs. A dream of mine. Take a look and please, check out some more of the videos.

Enjoy and Au Revoir!

Milk out the Nose

December 27, 2008

Hey all,

You know how in movies people shoot milk their nose when something funny happens. I always thought that was a load of crap, until I saw this. I actually laughed so hard, diet coke came out my nose. It hurt like a son of a bitch, but still worth it.

Enjoy and pass it along.

Much Love,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!  I LOVE YOU.
