Festiva’s for the rest of us

December 1, 2008

Hey All,

I have been bumming around St. Thomas all day and I saw something a little unusual. I saw a man driving a car in reverse down the road in normal traffic. What’s even more interesting is that the car was a gray, Ford Festiva, which was my first car. The man didn’t seem to be flustered at all, and either did the cars behind him. Apparently driving in reverse in the Caribbean is not illegal. I will look into it further and let you know what I find out. Until next time, enjoy the Ford Festiva… its a like a shoe box on wheels.

Much love,

This is a nice little anecdote!! I want to know more about people driving in reverse and if this is a singular incident or a common practice. But you really should start proof reading these things! đŸ˜‰

I wouldn’t proof read anything! I also wanted to say the nicest part about the festiva is that you could roll down the passenger window without even really leaning….. and 76 miles to the gallon…ish. Who needs a hybrid just go old school!

Man…that sure is a nice little Festy. I didn’t know there was an exact twin…right down to the cow pattern seat covers…. of my buddies Festy!
I am sure he would be real interested to see yours. Where might you be located?

Hey Matt…the Festy does get great gas milage but 75ish is pushing it….45 to 50 is definately doable though.

Benjamin, The responses are too cool. You are talking about your first car in po-dunk Grand Ledge, MI and the twin you see on a tropical island and somebody else says hey that’s my car. Where did you get the pic? Matthew just going back and forth to school you probably did get closer to 75 mpg. Most of that was fumes cuz the tank was always empty. Love & miss both of you. MOM

First off I would like to agree with matthew…. proofing is for suckers. I remember picking up that little Festiva up for a hefty $600 and sitting in the back seat while you learned to drive it in the St. Michael’s parking lot, dad yelling SHIFT NOW. I know the gas milage was great but thats only because the thing couldn’t get over 70 mph. Who care about gas milage anyway gas is under $2.00 a gallon. Keep it real white boy.

Despite what everyone had to say about Ben’s first care, I am intrigued by the fact that he chose a car that is parked in a cemetery. Very weird! And secondly that the person who owned that car probably got one hell of a steal when buying those rims, since it is probably the only car that qualifies for the advertised $20 a rim special that discount tire always advertises.

    much love

AH, the Ford Fiesta. I actually drove a Ford Fiesta back and forth to FSU for 3 years. One of the first fond memories I have with Aunt Denise is from that car. Uhhhhhh, I mean that she was giving me driving directions. Telling me where to go, “10 and 2” and the like.

Let me know if a position opens up on that boat for ship Pharmacist. Valium, Viagra, Vicodin. What could be easier. I will even offer to apply first dose of any sunscreen I sell. Hands on care. Thats me.

    Keep the Faith, brother.

That is MY car folks , I am glad you made such a fantastic choice there !!
I am glad you love it , to post it on your site .
I have owned that car for 5 years and put much love into that car .

I was at the cemetery while I was visiting my Mother and father , they are buried there.

  13. drunckle greg, it’s not a fiesta. It’s a festiva. Nick, a stock festiva 5 speed goes 113 mph and that’s radar certified. Matthew (and mom), they get 53 mpg in ideal conditions. BTW the average lifespan is 300,000 miles. I know of 4 with over 500,000 original miles.
